Global Insights: The Polish Railway Boom
Poland has the third largest railway network in the EU, after Germany and France. Demand for rail travel is rising quickly: between 2015 and 2024, passenger numbers grew by 45.4 percent, reaching 407.5 million journeys per year.
To meet this growing demand, Poland is investing heavily in modern rail infrastructure, supported to a large extent by EU funding. The country is pursuing both major flagship projects, such as a 480 kilometre high speed corridor linking Warsaw and Łódź before extending toward western and southern Poland, and extensive programmes to revitalise regional lines to improve connectivity in smaller communities.
Together with Jacek Ziolkowski, vice-chairman of the Swedish Polish Chamber of Commerce, and Mariusz Kalinowski, Business Development Manager at Rhomberg Sersa Nordics ApS, we explore the current boom in the Polish railway market and the opportunities it offers to the Swedish railway industry. Welcome to join us!
